BetaCAP60-3G is a double diluter : it contains two modules CAP30 and an interface cirduit allowing to address three inputs to both above modules. The first consequence of this structure is the possibility to handle true cross sensitivity tests in addition to linearity tests. Something similar to a cross sensitivity test is also done with single line diluters, but differently from the norms requirement the cross sensitive component response is tested just with measured component at zero level. Another improvement over the previous models of the BetaCAP family is a more powerful electronics : faster and with 16 bit resolution. Those features are improving the pressures stability and generally the analogic processing ( the self-test procedure we will see later get big benefits from that). Each one of the three gas inputs (two gases to be diluted and one diluting gas) are addressed to the two dilution modules in a way depending on the two dilution rates : both dilutions are free from zero to 100% The obvious limit is that Kdil.1 + Kdil.2 ≤ 100%
Also BetaCAP60-3G is managed through his mathematical representation : it was more complex to design the firmware because the three pressure setpoints are calculated from a sistem of three second degree equations. In addition, the diluter logics includes two dilution ratios and recovering the way of saturating the available capillaries Another difference with the CAP30 family is about viscosities input, where it must be read in the spreadsheet and written in one CAP30 menu. In BetaCAP60-3G the calculation (by Reichenberg) is in the firmware : each test gas must be qualified with components list and relevant concentrations and the diluter does all what it remains. The lucky combination of having in the diluter two virtually equal capillaries blocks, grouped in a particolar mode, and our forma mentis not discarding coming, perhaps unlikely, opportunities, did favour the development of an interesting self-test procedure. When equal pressures are applied, all nearly equal capillaries groups are crossed by a flow that must be proportional to the number of capillaries in the group. The self-test procedure just check that, calculating the deviations with the best resolution is allowed, much higher than with traceable processes. Interested people can find a detailed presentation about SELF-TEST at the SELF-TEST procedure Download. To run this procedure it’s necessary to have installed the optional CAL60 module (a multi-range flow meter) and a free PC program.
